Data Safety & FAQ

No data shared with third parties

Ratearr never sends your data to third parties. API calls go directly from your browser to TMDB, OMDb, and Allociné.

No personal data collected

No location, no personal info, no browsing history. The extension only processes the movie title on the current page.

Data encrypted in transit

All API calls use HTTPS. No data is transmitted unencrypted.

Data stays on your device

API keys and cached ratings are stored in your browser's local storage. Clear them anytime from the options page.

Why does Ratearr need API keys?

TMDB and OMDb require free API keys to use their services. This keeps the extension free and without a backend — your browser talks directly to the APIs. Keys are stored locally and never leave your device.

What data does the extension access?

Only the movie or TV title on the current page (via JSON-LD metadata or the page title). No browsing history, no personal data, no analytics. The source code is fully open for audit.

Can I delete my cached data?

Yes. Open the extension options and click "Clear Cache". This removes all stored ratings. Your API keys can be cleared from the same page.

Does Ratearr work on Chrome?

The MVP targets Firefox. Chrome support (Manifest V3) is planned. The codebase uses WXT which handles cross-browser builds.
